MasterCard partnership with BP / Aral brings contactless technology to forecourts

(PaymentsMarket) - BP / Aral to deploy MasterCard® PayPass™ contactless payment technology across the United Kingdom, Germany and Switzerland

MasterCard has today announced that BP / Aral will begin deploying MasterCard®PayPass™ contactless payments terminals across its forecourts in the United Kingdom, Germany and Switzerland over the next two years.

The development means that consumers with MasterCard PayPass and Maestro®PayPass™ enabled cards will be able to ‘Tap & Go™’ to pay for everyday purchases up to the value of £15 in the UK, €25 in Germany and 40 Swiss Francs in Switzerland at BP / Aral forecourt shops across the three countries, simply by tapping their card on a PayPassterminal at the point of sale. They can also continue to use the same cards for higher value transactions, authenticated with a PIN or signature.
